Where do I start, this hotel is superb for many reasons! Firstly the location is excellent, right next to the harbour and old town and the only hotel I know of that has a pool in this vicinity. The decor is clean and modern and the hotel is spotless. I was worried that the pool and surrounding area may get too crowded but it was perfect. However the most impressive part is the staff, they are all lovely and willing to do anything for you. The hospitality is some of the best I’ve come across and I’ve stayed in many nice hotels all over the world. From the ladies who service the rooms to the breakfast staff who greet you in the morning, they all greet you with a smile and are all wonderful. The reception staff are excellent and gave us some really good recommendations on where to go on day trips, where to eat and some lovely bars for pre/post dinner drinks. And I can’t forget the staff at the cocktail bar by the pool, real good fun and they/George (the general manager) will randomly come around with free shots or drink. This was a very classy touch and much appreciated. We felt like family not guests!! Breakfast was ample with a mixture of hot and cold items, the hotel does not have a restaurant for lunch or dinner but you can order food at the cocktail bar next to the pool. Drink and food were reasonably priced too. There is some construction work next door as a new hotel is being constructed but this is beyond their control…

Everything about SanSal was perfect! The staff are super friendly and always ready to help. We were first met with Anna Maria at reception who just set the tone for the hotel. She was very welcoming and always ready to help us with places to go. The manager is always around and leading a helping hand for staff. He seems very hands on and also very friendly. Konstantina in the bar upstairs was amazing. Everyday making us cocktails with whatever alcohol we preferred! ( she knows her stuff) - and many more staff that I did not catch a name. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in my time, and myself and my partner can both agree this was by far the best one we’ve stayed at. Breakfast is a small selection but everything you need in the morning. The location could not be better. We were 5 minutes away from old town with the harbour and plenty of restaurants and tourism attractions. On the other side we were 5 minutes away from nea Nora beach. Which has sunbeds with services from the nearby restaurant. And crystal clear water. So whatever kind of day we were feeling we had it right on our doorstep. Ofcourse we ventured out to other places further away. Would recommend getting a car for Crete as it is a huge island with some many things to see and quite far away.

The property was located 5-10 minutes walk to both old town and harbour, Nea Chora beach and also services like laundromats in the city. Very walkable to food, shops and fun. The pool deck and bar were enjoyable including the food and drink options. The room (202) and balcony felt large and airy with a drying rack on the balcony for wet clothes. The team came in twice daily, first to clean and then an evening turn-down. There were a few onsite car spaces and some on-street spaces for our rental car which was fantastic as parking in the area was difficult. The team held onto the keys and moved the car around as needed to fit all the cars in. They also loaned beach towels in a tote bag for our beach trips. The welcome drink and explanation of highlights in the area was amazing too.

We were considering a few hotels in Chania and are very glad we chose to stay at the SanSal, it was fantastic. The hotel was beautiful and the sea view room had a gorgeous view, though unfortunately there is some construction happening on one side of the hotel that affected part of the view (but not a big problem and it wasn't too loud in the morning). Breakfast was also excellent and had great variety. But by far the best part was the staff. They were all very friendly and were extremely helpful during our stay, helping us arrange a car rental and private taxi and even packing a breakfast for us when we needed to leave early in the morning to catch a ferry.

Everything! All members of the hotel staff were incredibly friendly whether at the pool, breakfast, reception or house keeping. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of Greek classics, fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice every morning. The cocktails on the roof top bar are also lovely - not to mention the views. The hotel is located in the ideal place in close walking distance to the old town in one direction and the fisherman harbour the other direction. The hotel could not have been more helpful in recommending great places to eat and even helping to organise in room massages. We had the best time and will be back!
